The Ferrari 550 was built for the high end market in the year 1996, characterized by the distinctive quality of being a two-seater sports car. It comprises mainly of the Ferrari 550 Maranello and the 550 Barchetta.

Considering the high speeds this vehicle can attain in just under a few seconds, the makers decided to install superb traction control system that allows the car cut back engine power if it senses things are not well from its computer-controlled system, activating disc brakes anti lock technology, enabling the car to stop.

The engine of this unique Ferrari has the capacity of 5474cc. Horsepower of up to 485 at 7600 rpm with 4 valves per cylinder which enables it to produce enough power making it capable of accelerating to speeds of up to 97km/h in 4.2 seconds, and it can reach speeds of 161 km/h in just over 10 seconds. This amazing sports car can reach maximum speed of 320 km/h and for those who love to feel the rush while driving this is just the car especially on a freeway.

The front engine design, though pundits might it is like a leap backwards, seems quite brilliant when one finds that it doesn’t require the troublesome lengths of tubes for cooling that a mid-engine requires. Also the V12 powerplant doesn’t need radiators to be mounted on the sides and this is where you see the wisdom of installing a front-engine design

The maintenance of this superb engine has not been left to chance and the Ferrari 550 Maranello, has a Bosch Motronic 5.2 ignition/injection system, which is state-of- the-art. The six speed manual gearbox has been mounted on the rear part of the car, with close ratios in between the first five gears and a taller cog for cruising away. This particular engine has been made of aluminum alloy, weighing approximately 512 pounds making it on average light. And it boasts of a tank that enables it to have a 2.3 extra liters of fuel, allowing it to have more peak power.

In regards to the interior finish of this breathtaking car, the makers decided to mind the comfort of its users and have therefore installed climate control features that enables you change the atmosphere present in the car. The driver’s seat has been made in such a way that even though the car has a very low roof the interior is still roomy enough for one to move comfortably.

The makers of this popular brand of the Ferrari didn’t intend it for motorsport, but eager customers bought the few that were made for a series of races, and it went to prove their marketing campaign that this is not just a car for the rich or those who are well off, it is simply not a car to be looked at only and admired, when a car like this flashes past you at 200km/h you will realize that this car has to be driven in order to fully appreciate its sheer masterpiece.
